چکیده

A prerequisite in refining volcanic hazard at explosive volcanoes is a better quantification of the timescales syn-eruptive processes, such as magma degassing and crystallization prior to eruption. To this aim, new data on matrices (microlites, residual glasses, bubbles) pumice, scoria, dense clasts erupted during AD 1530 andesitic eruption La Soufrière Guadeloupe are combined with published from phase-equilibrium kinetic experiments, order estimate pressures microlite ascent rates. From timescale data, we infer that started phreatomagmatic explosions tapping magmas ascended about 1 month (decompression rate ?50 Pa/s) coldest parts reservoir (?825°C 74 wt% SiO 2 melt). These continuously crystallized microlites (?25 vol% plagioclase, orthopyroxene, clinopyroxene, magnetite, quartz, apatite), but did not outgas likely due sealed conduit margins. The flank collapse (preexisting “cold” edifice) followed phase triggered sub-Plinian progressively tapped hotter main (?875°C 71 interstitial melt), emitting banded homogeneous pumice. pumice significantly mostly lack decompression-induced microlites, suggesting short durations 0.5–1 day rates 1,400–4,000 Pa/s). following Strombolian emitted dark scoria only rare duration days ?550 terminal lava dome growth involved fully outgassed more than month, giving time for (?40 cristobalite). detection any shallow magmatic intrusion crucial, since it can trigger sequence processes leading an marked by succession different disastrous eruptive styles, scenario similar Overall, provide approach petrological, geochemical, experimental may be used conditions other systems.

the effect of taftan pozzolan on the compressive strength of concrete in the environmental conditions of oman sea (chabahar port)

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Eruption dynamics inferred from microlite crystallization experiments: Application to Plinian and dome-forming eruptions of Mt Pelée (Martinique, Lesser Antilles)

Decompression experiments have been conducted to simulate syn-eruptive crystallization in the volcanic conduit, in order to infer magma ascent rates and conditions during domeforming and Plinian eruptions of silicic arc volcanoes. The experiments were carried out starting from Mt Pelée rhyolitic interstitial melt (76 wt. % SiO2) and consisted in three consecutive steps: hydration, decompression...

Assessment of the contamination of marine fauna by chlordecone in Guadeloupe and Martinique (Lesser Antilles).

Chlordecone is an organochlorine pesticide, used in the Lesser Antilles from 1972 to 1993 to fight against a banana weevil. That molecule is very persistent in the natural environment and ends up in the sea with runoff waters. From 2003 to 2013, seven campaigns of samplings have been conducted to evaluate the level of contamination of fish, crustaceans, and mollusks. The present study is the fi...
